A message of hope for Ukrainian printers, reaffirming the role of the Print industry as a bastion of freedom
In a heartfelt video message Lorenzo Villa, publisher, print enthusiast and co-founder of the Print Against War initiative, addresses his message of solidarity to Ukrainian printers. He condemns the invasion of Ukraine and invites businesses that need help, and those who can offer it, to join Print Against War.
Today we are forced to deal with this illogical war. And you, Ukrainian women, men and printers, are facing this situation with pride, fortitude and bravery. We respect and admire you very much for that.
We are printers, like you. We worked on printing machines for many years, then we decided to become journalists. We cannot even imagine what you’re going through these days, but be sure that we are on your side, and that we will not leave you alone.
That’s why, along with other partners and publishers, we created Print Against War, a project aimed to provide you at brining you concrete help, thanks to the help of print houses, manufacturers and paper mills. It goes beyond the many charitable initiatives taken on a personal and company level.
Beyond our governments, the print industry is a cornerstone of the free flow of ideas in every country in the world, and everyone involved is part of an ecosystem that must grow and defend.
Lorenzo Villa
We know that people and companies from those Ukrainian cities occupied and besieged by Russian forces are suffering the most. We know that many of you are trying to find ways to protect your families and employees. We know that some of you are still working, while others have to stop.
Those of you who register on printagainstwar.org will receive an invitation to join a conversation group, talk and share details about the situation, meet with other members of the group.
We have some ideas on how to help you, but we need your feedback to decide how to move forward, and how to involve the European print industry in a concrete, useful and pragmatic plan of support.
